Whether it’s been weeks or years, we’re glad to welcome you back. Your renewal steps may vary. Read below for all you need to reactivate your BCRPA status.
Reminder: BCRPA insurance only applies to active registrations. Be sure to complete your renewal before resuming any instruction.
Expired 1 Day to 12 Months
Steps to complete:
- Earn your CECs
- Hold current CPR and First Aid
- Pay your renewal fee
If you are lapsed for less than one year, here’s what you need to renew:

Earn Your Required CECs:
- Fitness Leaders (1-year): 6 credits
- SFL/TFL (1-year): 8 credits

Update Your CPR/First Aid Certifications:
- CPR (minimum: CPR-A)
- First Aid (minimum: Emergency or Standard First Aid)

Once everything is updated:
- You can pay your renewal fee under the “Manage Registration” tab on The Registry®.
- Payment is by credit card only
- (Credit/Debit, Debit-only cards, and personal cheques are not accepted)
Expired 1 to 5 Years
Steps to complete:
- Earn your CECs.
- Hold current CPR and First Aid.
- Complete an Expired Fitness Leader ICE Evaluation in each of your Specialties.
- Pay your renewal fee.
If your BCRPA registration has expired for one to five years, here’s how to get back on track:

Earn Your Required CECs:
- Fitness Leaders (1-year): 6 credits
- SFL/TFL (1-year): 8 credits

Update Your First Aid/CPR Certifications:
- CPR (minimum: CPR-A)
- First Aid (minimum: Emergency or Standard First Aid)
- Complete an ICE for Expired Leaders
To renew your specialty, you’ll need to complete the Instructor Competency Evaluation (ICE) for Expired Fitness Leader for each area of specialty you wish to renew.
You do not need to submit an 8-hour practicum for any specialty renewal.
For SFLs/TFLs Only – You must also complete a Shadow ICE in each specialty you’re renewing.
- Final Step: Pay Your Renewal Fee
Once all requirements are met, BCRPA will put an invoice in your Registry® of Fitness Professionals account.
Note: Payment is by credit card only. We do not accept debit, credit/debit combo cards, or personal cheques.

Steps to complete:
- Earn your CECs.
- Hold current CPR and First Aid.
- Complete written exams in your Specialties.
- Complete a full ICE Evaluation in your Specialties.
- Pay your renewal fee.
If your BCRPA registration has expired for more than five years, here’s how to get back on track.
You do not need to submit an 8-hour resume for any specialty renewal.

- Fitness Leaders (1-year): 6 credits
- SFL/TFL (1-year): 8 credits

Update Your First Aid/CPR Certifications:
- CPR (minimum: CPR-A)
- First Aid (minimum: Emergency or Standard First Aid)
- Pass all applicable written exams
- Complete an ICE for Expired Leaders
