How to become a Supervisor of Fitness Leaders (SFL)
SFLs are experienced fitness professionals who typically oversee teams of Fitness Leaders. They often work as Fitness Programmers or Managers and may be responsible for hiring staff. Learn more about the benefits below.
SFLs can:
- Conduct ICE evaluations to assess new Fitness Leaders.
- Present workshops in their area(s) of expertise and award BCRPA CECs.
Interested in becoming an SFL? The following requirements apply:
- Currently registered as a BCRPA Fitness Leader.
- Have a minimum 4 years experience as a Fitness Leader.
- Completed one or more BCRPA specialty modules.
Once your application is reviewed and approved, you will be emailed the next steps.
Note that successful applicants must complete a:
- BCRPA approved Supervisory Workshop, and a
- Specialty-Specific ICE workshop. ICE Workshops are a mandatory step for all SFL and TFL applicants. They provide essential training on ICE procedures and an overview of BCRPA’s Fitness Program.
- An Advanced ICE.
- A Shadow ICE.

SFL ApplicationBecome a Trainer of Fitness Leaders (TFL)
TFLs are BCRPA’s highest level of fitness professionals with hands-on industry experience. They educate and support the next generation of Fitness Leaders, teaching course specialties. Learn about the benefits below.
TFLs can:
- Teach specialty module courses and grant module completion for BCRPA registration.
- Conduct ICE evaluations to assess practical competence.
- Present BCRPA-approved workshops and award CECs.
- Mentor future TFLs during BCRPA course delivery.
Interested in becoming a TFL? The following requirements apply:
- Currently registered as a BCRPA Fitness Leader.
- Have a minimum 5 years experience as a Fitness Leader.
- Have completed one or more BCRPA specialty modules.
Once your application is reviewed and approved you will be emailed the next steps.
Note that successful applicants must complete the following:

The Specialty Specific ICE workshop. ICE Workshops are a mandatory step for all SFL and TFL applicants. They provide essential training on ICE procedures and an overview of BCRPA’s Fitness Program.
Successful applicants will be notified by email on how to enroll for these online workshops, which are worth 1.5 CECs. - An Advanced ICE.
- A Shadow ICE.

The BCRPA Train-the-Trainer Workshop or an approved equivalent Facilitator Training course.
- Note: If you have a degree/diploma/certificate in Adult Education, this requirement could be waived.
